Alcohol: A Growing Problem for Women

by Jane Wangersky March 15th, 2024 | Women's Health

Women are drinking more and more, says a group of Canadian researchers, to the point where they "may be catching up to their male peers when it comes to alcohol consumption."

But, of course, this is one area where we shouldn't want to make it to the same level as the boys.

Do you smoke cigarettes or chew tobacco? If yes, then you know how addicting nicotine can be. But do you also know that tobacco is harmful? In fact, “tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of disease, disability, and death in the United States.” And, “between 1964 and 2004, cigarette smoking caused an estimated 12 million deaths, including 4.1 million deaths from cancer, and 5.5 million deaths from cardiovascular diseases.”

These statistics, provided by the educational website Above the Influence, show the devastating effects of tobacco use on our population. Think about it. Don’t we all know someone who died
