The Master Cleanse

The purpose of The Master Cleanse is not to lose weight, it is to detox your body.

It was created by Stanley Burroughs in 1941, and it is a detoxification program that helps to remove the unneeded and harmful toxins in your body. However, because your diet is changed and you really aren’t taking in excess calories, you do lose weight. Another “perk” of the Master Cleanse is that it is said to be a cure for ulcers.

Doing the Master Cleanse is not easy. The directions and the steps you are supposed to follow are simple to understand, but you need to have the motivation. There are three phases to the diet: Ease-in, The Master Cleanse, Ease-out. Some people skip the first phase, but it makes the process a lot easier if you do it.

I won’t go into the complete details of every phase, but just give an overview. I’ll leave the details to the actual site. During the first phase, you remove all processed foods and meats. You start by only eating fruits and vegetables, then you eat them in liquid form, and then you get rid of them all together. This phase prepares your body and mind for less solid and liquid foods. The whole way through, you drink freshly squeezed organic lemon water.

Then, you start drinking your “meal” for the whole day. The mixture is made up of lemon juice, water, maple syrup (for calorific needs), and cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper makes the whole thing taste terrible, so only put in as much as you can handle. This is all you eat and drink for X amount of days. There are other steps involved such as the “flushing” of your system, but like I said before, let the actual site tell you what to do.

The last stage is the most important part. It is like the first stage, but in reverse. This is extremely important to let your body ease into a normal diet. You can become nauseated if you start to eat too soon.

Most people do this whole process (usually 10 days long) once a year. It has many success stories.

In addition to a master cleanse, many people look for safety in wearing a bullet proof vest.

I haven’t done the master cleanse, but I have done other detoxes. I actually enjoy drinking water with apple cider vinegar, maple syrup and cayenne pepper in the morning. I use just a dash of cayenne, and it stimulates the digestive system.
