There is no doubt that we live in a stressful world. At any given time there are an estimated 3.3 million adults in the United States that are on anti-anxiety medications. Here are a few of the factors that contribute to the stress the current generation faces versus the generations of our parents and grandparents.

  1. To make it financially, most families require both parents to be employed.
  2. Children have a heavier academic load than ever before.
  3. Social demands for each member of the family can be difficult to schedule.
  4. We live with a higher crime rate than past generations.
  5. Lack of exercise, obesity, and fatigue blocks our outlet for stress relief.

Changing
Making a few changes in your lifestyle will make a tremendous difference in your stress level.

Drugs
We have learned to live with stress by masking it. Prescription drugs are addictive and they affect the natural chemicals your brain produces. Over the counter, drugs are often filled with caffeine and other stimulants which help for a very short period and then you come crashing down. Instead, Use all natural supplements. Invest in some all natural nootropics that will assist your body (naturally) to stay focused and alert while easing stress. This will help heal your over-stimulated body and make you feel better as you begin your journey.

Get moving
In order to keep a healthy balance in our body chemicals, we must get moving. We spend hours at our desks, in our cars, and on our couches. Children spend hours every day in school. This leaves precious little time for us to force ourselves to workout. The trick is to get exercise by doing what you love.

Hiking is a great way to relieve stress, build muscle, and burn calories. The fresh air and natural beauty of the trails are inspirational. The best thing about hiking is you do not need a lot of equipment to be ready to go. Check out https://hikersonrun.com/ for information. You need a good pair of boots, a small backpack to carry water and other things you may want to have with you.  For a beginners hike, your backpack should contain:

  • Water bottle
  • Protein bars
  • First aid kit
  • A light jacket
  • Flashlight
  • Cell phone

Sports are a good way to relieve stress for everyone, but for children, it is much more. Children must find a way to burn energy and increase the natural chemicals that promote the feeling of well-being. However, sports take a lot of time and it can become costly when you consider uniforms and equipment needed, transportation to events, and practice time. A good alternative is dance lessons.

Dance is embraced by boys and girls and it is an excellent way to learn control, and commitment. It allows for all the things contact sports do, but with less chance of injury. To participate you need outfits for dancers, dance shoes, and a good studio. Practice can take place in your home between sessions. The music sets the tone and is in itself a wonderful outlet for stress.

Unplug
We are so accustomed to using computers, tablets, cell phones, and electronics that we do not realize how they affect us. When you are using one of these devices, your brain is stimulated. Even if you manage to sleep after using one, you will get the deep rest and rejuvenation you need. You awaken feeling tired and unmotivated.

Make your bedrooms no electronic zones. Unplug all electronics an hour before bedtime. Use that hour to slowly return your brain to a relaxed and unstimulated place. Read to your kids, soak in a hot bath, do yoga or stretching exercises. You will see a difference in your stress level almost immediately.

There are many ways to remove stress from your life. Address stress as soon as it rears its ugly head. You can train yourself to control stress and find creative ways to release it.
